Has life lost meaning, purpose, and direction? Do you feel helpless? This may happen during times of lost health, lost income, the loss of a loved one, or a broken friendship. In life’s crises one often forgets that God is there. Let me share five thoughts that may be a comfort to you.
God Exists
"That which may be known of God is manifest...; For the invisible things of Him are clearly seen...; so that they are without excuse"- Romans 1:19-20.
You can know God exists because your eyes read His blueprint. He confirms His presence in the glory of a brilliant sunset and in the tranquility of a star-studded evening sky. These natural images are a wordless picture that speaks loudly of God’s existence.
God Understands
"He telleth the number of the stars; He calleth them all by their names. Great is our Lord, and of great power: His understanding is infinite"-Psalm 147:4-5.
God knows the exact number of the stars that dot the heavens and He even knows each by name, therefore you can have assurance that God completely understands what you are experiencing. "His understanding is infinite." The details of your difficulties have not escaped God’s concern.
God "comprehends the dust of the earth in a measure"-Isaiah 40:12. He knows the weight and circumference of every minute dust particle. Surely, God fully understands the minute details of your life.
God Cares
"Humble yourselves... Casting all your cares upon Him; for He careth for you"- 1 Peter 5:6-7
God invites you to throw off, hand over, cast all your worries and concerns on Him because He cares for you.
Jesus told His disciples: "the very hairs of your head are all numbered"- Matthew 10:30. It is unlikely that you have even thought about counting the hairs on your head, but God cares enough about you to number each hair.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life"- John 3:16
God cares so much about us that He sent His only unique Son to die on the cross in our place to pay for our sin, and He will soon return to claim those that have placed their trust in Him.
God Is In Control
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose"- Romans 8:28
Difficult circumstances in life may not appear to be working toward your good, but God is at the helm of life. God not only cares about your well being but He wants to accomplish His predetermined purpose in your life: "to be conformed to the image of Christ"- Romans 8:29
God’s Word states that He "performeth the thing that is appointed for me"- Job 23:14. Your life may now be difficult, even bordering on chaos, but God is able to take all the pieces and assume firm control.
God Supplies
"Call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify Me"- Psalm 50:15
You must trust in God’s grace and have faith in Jesus Christ as both Savior and Lord of your life. As you trust Him, God will supply His power for the trials of life. Spend some time now in God’s Word, faith comes "by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God"- Romans 10:17. As God’s beloved child, you no longer need to face life’s struggles and trauma with your own natural strength, but through the strength of God’s loving power. "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me"- Philippians 4:13.
